Two Pianos. Two Musicians. One First-Class Performance!

*Actual* duelling pianos can be verified as early as the late 1890s in the USA, when ragtime piano players would actually “duel” in an effort to see who could play better and faster! In 1933, when BH O’Brien and Charlie Cantrell opened Pat O’Brien’s Bar in New Orleans, they included a room where two piano players would entertain the crowd on copper-topped baby grand pianos. Players would take turns singing songs requested by the audience, written on cocktail napkins. In 1986, a piano bar called Alley Cats opened in Dallas, Texas, in an attempt to copy the piano bar style of New Orleans. Players at this club started redefining the style of duelling pianos by playing more contemporary rock & roll music, coupled with humorous bits that involved lyric substitutions and audience participation. These “bits” would become commonplace at many duelling piano clubs over the years, as a staple of the industry.

From there, many duelling piano clubs and chains opened, and there are currently well over 200 different clubs across the United States, and even more in other countries. The name of the concept has also evolved to be called “singalong”, since the goal of the players is not generally to work against each other, but rather to gain audience participation with singing and clapping.

Do you travel outside Dublin?
Absolutely! We travel anywhere within Ireland and/or overseas to perform at your event.

How long do you play for?
We are able to personally customise our performance length to fit exactly what you’re looking for. 
 
Could you play at my house? 
For sure! Our show is very portable and easily adjustable to accommodate events of all types and sizes. Whether it’s a house party, birthday, wedding, anniversary, or simply a fun Thursday night, we’re able to make it happen! 
 
Can you play any song/genre? 
Our goal is to play anything and everything that you request! We will honestly try anything. From Billy Joel to Frank Sinatra to Christy Moore to Ed Sheeran to Kylie Minogue, to the theme song from your favourite TV show, we love to play what you want to hear. If we don’t know it, we’ll learn it. 
 
How much does the show cost?
The fees for the show vary based on the details of your event (i.e. room size, production requirements, location, audience size, etc). Please contact us for an exact quote. 
 
Do you bring everything, or do we need to supply equipment? 
We bring everything with us – all of the musical equipment, all of the production for lights and sound, and two stellar musicians that are well-equipped to perform a seamless non-stop all-request duelling piano show.
